Keynotes and Speakers for ITx 2018
General Manager, Axenic
Terry is the General Manager for kick-arse NZ information security company, Axenic. He is a veteran presenter, mentor, and coach, and has a particular interest in helping young kiwi techies develop their more soft and squishy people skills.
Previously, Terry has led and presented in the Microsoft Ignite architecture track for several years, developing a hardcore following of kiwi ICT architects and technologists interested in moving beyond interacting with 1s and 0s.
Many consultants and architects are finding that their careers are starting to 'top out' - there seems to be a glass ceiling that is difficult to break through. Competition for more senior roles is high and being the smartest person in the room is no longer enough. What is the missing ingredient?
Think about the best technologist that you have worked with: it might be someone in your company or someone in your partner's or customer's organisation. What was it about that person that made them stand out? Was it just their technical ability that impressed you or was it something more?
This session will look at some of the soft skills - stakeholder management, influence, technical leadership, among others - that are important to develop as technologists in order to be successful with your customers and to help you progress up your career ladder.
