The ITx 2018 Programme may change without notice
One of the main aspects of IT Asset Management, also known as ITAM is Software Asset Management (SAM). It has seen a large increase in demand and interest in its services in recent years.
SAM is particularly important for medium to large corporations in regard to redistribution of licenses and managing legal risks associated with software ownership and expiration. If organisations don’t know what software they own, deploy and use, they open themselves up to a compliance risk.
While many companies have grasped on software purchases and allocation they are unable to ensure continuous software license optimization, compliance and overall software usage.
The Cloud technologies adds a new dimension and challenge to the SAM practice and with trends such as migration to cloud, SAM helps organisations better understand what they own. This lets them determine what should be migrated to the cloud, and how to allocate these licenses across the organisation.
There are a number of ways in which SAM can help an organisation, but it takes a lot of time to understand what is SAM and lot of effort to generate adequate support from senior management.
So, what exactly is SAM? How do I get started? What are the challenges, expectations and the future of SAM?
In this presentation Zlatko will also share his experience of working with some large organisations to design and implement SAM business practice. If you want to know more about SAM, then come along and find out how SAM can help you to gain visibility and control of your software assets.
